The Night Before New River

It’s here again!

The night before the marathon has arrived. It’s definitely totally different since this race is out of town.

This morning I finally decided on which shoes I would wear.
These shoes have carried me through more than 4 PRs. Hopefully tomorrow will bring one more.

By 11:30 I was all packed up and ready to go.

Just over an hour later we headed up into the mountains. It’s an understatement to describe this area as rural.

We stopped by the hotel first. It’s up on a hill. Just take a look at the views.

It’s too bad our room is on the other side. 😀

We drove further into the countryside (passing a herd of buffalo!) making our way to the start of the race. It’s pretty rural there. Did I mention that yet?

Rural but beautiful.

Those are Christmas trees up there. Maybe one of those will make it to our house come December?

We headed back to West Jefferson, where the hotel is, and “downtown” to get something to eat.

How quaint is this?

It reminded me of West Yellowstone.

Another way to tell that this is a small town? They name their back streets.
Where are the boys? (Cheesy, I know.)

We ate at a little diner/ice cream parlor place. The best part? The chocolate shake.

Finally it was time to head back to the hotel with a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up something to eat in the morning. (We’ll be leaving before breakfast hours.)

As of right now everything is set out

and the alarm is set!

All that’s waiting is the marathon!
